live Grace-fully

It’s the flesh fueled moments…

            the furrowed brow

                   the complaining spirit

the demand of quiet and conforming to my will

It’s the whisper of aware…

            “be calm and peaceable”

                   “give thanks in this now-moment”

“offer grace and take an inhale/exhale of renew”

…the human unwanting of the correction.
…the sin willing to fester, absent of the effort it would take to rise above.
…the tired, sleepless, pounding pain of vice-gripped skull and bone-weary limbs.

It’s the everyday…
     the everyone capable…

But it’s the Always-Mercy, ever-ready to redeem us from ourselves.
It’s the stretched out arms and whip torn back taking all for our lack
replacing our screaming nothingness with His lullabied all-is-done.

The weaknesses pile like unsorted laundry – ignored in hopes they will disappear on their own.

Yet that never happens.

Change never comes from inaction.
It is pound for pound,
flesh for flesh,
give
and
take.

Except the only thing we have to give is our heart
and the only thing we have to take is every ounce of a King who passionately pursued a way to be with us, against all costs.

Yes we have free will.
Yes we must choose to accept what He freely offers.

But let us not forget how He loves

    …first.
So I fail and flail.
My sin is what I show, what I let lead.
